Wool Fair Farm Day SUCCESS! – By Bob Armstrong
The celebration event to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Shipston Wool Fair was a great success with over 800 visitors.
The event held in collaboration with Lower Clopton Farm was heralded by the Shipston Town Crier, Marion Lowe and opened by the town’s Mayor, Dan Scobie.
In glorious weather visitors were able to see demonstrations of sheep dogs working, enjoy tractor rides around the farm and be taken on a farm walk by the farm’s owner Richard Baldwyn.
Other attractions included demonstrations of spinning and weaving by the Stratford Guild of Spinners and Weavers, a falcon display by S&D Falconry and a collection of vintage tractors. There were also stalls selling locally sourced produce and arts and crafts.
It was a great day out with families enjoying the attractions and the freedom of being on a real working farm. As one visitor remarked `it’s a perfect prelude to this year’s Wool Fair and with the same friendly atmosphere. I can’t wait for the 28th May and this year’s Wool Fair!’
